Stephen King Promotion
Stephen Edwin King was born in 1947 in Portland, Maine. He made his first professional short story sale in 1967 to Startling Mystery Stories. A few years later he began teaching high school English and continued writing in his spare time to produce short stories and work on novels. In the spring of 1973, Doubleday & Co., accepted the novel Carrie
for publication, providing him the means to write fulltime. Salem's Lot
was published in 1975 and The Shining
was published in 1977. Stephen King has since published over forty books and has become one of the world's most successful mystery writers. His most recent works include Cell,
Lisey's Story,
Duma Key
and Just After Sunset.
